In for a FULL restoration is this 1988 Sega Hot Rod 3 Player upright Arcade game. (The below info will be updated and changed as we go through this project).
Game board works, still need more testing after the cabinet is completed. The Medium Res monitor chassis has been rebuilt and new CRT has been added.
Art work has been made by Galloping Ghost.. Can't wait to see it rolled out and on over the new black laminate :)
All the vinyl has been removed from the main cabinet and wood corners, bottom and have been repaired (replaced with new wood). Found that the entire back panel needs to be replaced (splits and cracks). After this, then on to the control cabinet which needs LOTS of wood repairs.
Laminate has been ordered - Satin Black Vertical Grade..
New back door has been made. Back, Top and Front Inner Panels have been painted satin black..
Laminate done on side one. BUT! MAJOR SETBACK on side two as the laminate touched the cabinet when it was not in place yet. I have ordered new laminate, and now have to figure out how to remove the glue (I'll fix it). T-Molding has been ordered (forgot to get this earlier, oops).
AND OF COURSE FedEx damaged the Laminate replacement in shipping!
Replacement Laminate shows up today. Again another CRUSHED box. Now working on getting a refund and going elsewhere. Hope I can get a matching laminate otherwise I have to start all over. I don't want to say AVOID Cabinetmaker Warehouse, because I have never had an issue with them in the past, but...
While waiting for the 3rd laminate replacement to show up for the main cabinet. Working on finishing up the Control Panel laminate and wiring. Gathering metal parts to send to powder coating.
Control Panel Laminate is done and turned out great! Only thing left for this is the Art and Control Panel back from Powder Coat.
Main Cabinet Laminate is done and turned out great! T-Molding on too.
Art work is next..
Art work is on. Monitor glass and bezel is on..
In the home stretch to deliver this game in a week or so.. Whoo Hoo..
All back together, working and ready to go back home before final details and a photo shoot (sorry the control panel overlay did not make it (skewed wrong)).
